This is a Sarab antique rug woven in Northwest Persia during the 1910’s. It has a center medallion design set on a camel colour field. The unique feature of this rug is the background comprised of repeating hooked medallions enclosed in a lattice pattern – this gives the rug a 3D effect and draws the viewer’s eye away from the center medallion. The main border is made of an interlocked geometric design that creates movement within the rug.
This piece has been woven on a wool foundation and has 100% wool pile with all-natural vegetable dyes and is available in:
