DETAILS

This is an antique Sarab rug woven in northwest Persia in the 1920-30’s. It has a center medallion design on an open field camel hair background colour. The medallion design is of tribal influence and has many different tribal motifs along with 2 deer motifs. The open field camel hair background colour creates a dramatic visual impact against the extra-large sized center medallion. This rug has three small borders which draws the viewer’s eyes towards the center of the rug. The first border is comprised of repeating geometric floral motifs and the second main border is made of a barber pole design with polychrome colours.
