ABOUT THE DESIGNER

A multi-talented architect and designer, Daniela Puppa’s first experience in design saw her working with the Alchimia and Memphis experimental groups. She received her degree in architecture from the Politecnico University of Milan and focused mainly on industrial, fashion and interior design.

In 1972, Puppa became part of the editorial staff for architectural magazine Casabella, and later joined the Modo design magazine project where she was Editor-in-Chief from 1981 to 1983.

She has designed for Italian brands such as Artemide, Fontana Arte and Barovier & Toso. Her works have also included designs for names such as Memphis, Tendente and Driade; a collection of handles for the ‘New Styles’ theme for Valli & Valli; kitchens for Tokyo Kitchen: and table objects for the Japanese Tachikichi.

Daniela has collaborated with LVMH and Dior groups as a fashion designer for accessories, and is the Chair of various projects exploring the connections between the fashion system and design.

She has renovated private houses and – in collaboration with Franco Raggi – designed exhibition stands, sales points and showrooms which have been part of international exhibitions.

Her work has ranged from furniture and light engineering to textile design. Puppa cites her focus as both ‘energy’ and ‘curiosity’.

Her design aesthetic is known for its style and elegance, which can be seen throughout the designs she has created for the Sahrai’s Designer’s Selection.
