This is an antique Gharabagh rug woven in the southern part of the Caucus mountains during the beginning of the 20th century circa 1907. This rug has a highly unique allover design with large scale abstract circular motifs alongside many trees of life. The field is also comprised of many small animals, tribal motifs, and the date that the rug was woven at the top. The date is 1325 which translates to 1907. The large circular motifs enclose many different tribal motifs and constitute an extremely rare and unique design element. The main border design is comprised of alternating chicken an “X” motifs enclosed in a box.

This rug has been woven on a wool foundation with all wool pile and is available in:
