This is a Tabriz runner rug from Northwest Persia, dating back to circa 1880-1890. This rug features a ‘turtle design’ with repeating medallions and most famous in Bakhshayesh rugs. The format and colour palette are unique with a powder blue border which is rare and sought after in Tabriz silk rugs. This rug is finely hand-knotted on a silk foundation with silk pile.
