This is an antique Sultanabad Rug from Central Persia and it was woven during the end of the 19th century circa 1890. It has an all over design with blossoming abstract shrub plants enclosed within a lattice pattern. It has a pastel colour palette and the field as an ivory background colour. The red border has a geometric design with crab motifs interconnected buy a Vine design against a brick red background. The border background color creates colour contrast against the ivory field and draws the viewers’ attention away from the center of the rug.

This rug is finely hand-knotted on a wool foundataion and a wool pile and is available in: 

  • 360 x 257 cm 

Condition: Overall Very Good Condition with some areas of low pile consistent with age.
