DETAILS

This highly unique and rare Serapi from the town of Heriz in northwest Persia woven circa 1880, is one of the antique oriental rugs in the Collection. This design has a very dramatic effect with its unique central medallion and its abstract large-scale motifs. Another unique feature of this design is its use of a small border to finish it which is a very rare feature in any rug. Serapi rugs are well known for their geometric patterns and one of the best selling antique rugs on the market. This rug is finely handknotted on a cotton foundation using wool pile and symmetric knotting.
