This is one of the Serapi Persian antique rugs woven in the town of Heriz is northwest Persia circa 1900-1910.  The design of this rug creates a strong impact because of it use of a dramatic center medallion and large motifs as well as the colour palette with large pink leafs  and navy blue medallion on a red field.  These make this rug extremely unique and a design that is highly sought after.  It is woven on a cotton foundation and wool pile, and it has symmetrical knotting.

Condition: Overall Good Condition with some areas of low pile consistent with age.
