This is an antique Sarouk rug from Central Persia woven circa 1910. This rug has an all over design that incorporates a very small center motif flanked on each of its sides by larger scaled medallions. Within the field of the rug, there are larger scaled floral motifs made up of smaller flowers some of which ultimately create an abstract paisley design. The pink colours of the flower motifs create a contrast against the dark blue field and draw the viewers’ attention towards the flowers and not the background colour. Overall the design of this rug is extremely precise, and the motifs are spaciously drawn. The main border incorporates larger scaled palmettes surrounded by smaller floral motifs set on a pink background.

This rug is finely hand-knotted in the finest wool on a cotton foundation and is available in:
