DETAILS
This is a Ravar Kerman rug from southeast Persia woven circa 1920. This rug has a great allover arabesque design that is exemplified with the absence of corner medallions. The field of this rug has a highly dense floral design with small to extra large palmettes accompanied by a central flower creating symmetry. The large palmettes draw the eye to the center of the carpet while the blue border creates a great colour contrast with the ivory field. The rug is woven on a cotton foundation with wool pile using asymmetric knots.
