This is an antique Ravar Kerman woven in southeast Persia at the end of the 19th century circa 1900. This piece has a symmetrical Tree of Life design ascending to the apex of the Mihrab design located at the top of the rug. Birds are present throughout the main field of this rug and at the base of the tree, there is a small pond with ducks swimming in it. The border is decorated with an array of different shrub and tree motifs accompanied by birds perched on top of them. This unique and highly stylistic piece has been preserved in an overall excellent condition and would make an excellent addition to any traditional setting or used on the wall as a statement piece.
This rug is finely handknotted on a cotton foundation with 100 % wool pile and is available in:
