One of the Kerman area rugs in the Collection woven circa 1890, this Ravar features a unique field design with an oversized medallion on a cream coloured field.  The colour pallet of this rug is contrasting with light and dark colours accompanying each other in a harmonious way – these royal designs are called Kermanshah rugs. The name “Kermanshah” is used for the Kerman rugs from this time period that are extremely fine have a royal design and a unique colour pallet.  This rug was woven on a cotton foundation with wool pile using an asymmetric knotting technique.
