This is a antique Farahan Rug from central Persia woven early 20th century. Farahans are rare rugs as not many were produced and even less have survived through the years. This rug has an allover floral design with large palmettes, central medallion, deep saturated colours and a very fine weave.  This piece was woven with a cotton foundation and wool pile.
