This is an antique Farahan rug woven in central Persia during the end of the 19th century circa 1880 to 1900. The field is made up of two center medallions flanked by half medallions all with the same variant of the Herati motif. The half medallions located at the top and bottom of the rug are made with alternating coloured stripes of circular motifs. The background of the field is made with and ivory/camel hair colour and has a very subtle square design. The border is made with a unique repeating vase designs with blossoming shrubs.
This rug was woven on a cotton foundation with wool pile and is available in:
- 300 x 160 cm
Condition: Overall good condition with some areas of low pile consistent with its age.
