This is a semi-antique Esfahan rug from central Persia woven circa 1950s. The field has a classic center medallion surrounded by different floral motifs connected with the spiraling vine design set on an ivory background colour. The border is comprised of different blossoming flowers flanked by bird motifs on each side of them. The bright red colour of the border creates a contrast against the ivory field and draws the attention of the viewer towards the lighter coloured field.
