This is an antique Afshari rug from Southwest Persia dating from circa 1900. The field of this rug is made up of 5 ‘Gol-Farang’ motifs (meaning foreign flower). The design is inspired by the French Savonnerie and Aubusson rugs made in the 19th century. This rug is very finely hand-knotted in wool and cotton.
