DETAILS
This is an antique Aubusson tapestry woven in France during the mid-19th century circa 1850-1860 and measures 567 x 527 cm in size. This piece is designed with a highly stylized center medallion enclosing a bouquet and features bouquets protruding from each side of the medallion. The corners of the field are decorated with a spiraling split arabesque design which ad a royal degree of elegance to the drawing. The outermost border of this piece includes bouquets enclosed within large scaled connecting leaves with a light powder blue background which follows suit with the center medallion color palette. A unique feature of this piece is its square format which adds to its rarity and desirability by designers and interior decorators alike. It has been woven on a wolf foundation and made using all wool threads with 100% natural vegetable dyes and has been preserved in overall good condition with a few small spots of repairs which are consistent with its age.
