This is an antique Khotan rug woven in East Turkestan during the beginning of the 20th century circa 1900 -1910 and measures 348 x 188 cm in size. This piece has an all-over field design decorated with pomegranate trees with blossoming leaves and fruits planted and a pair of vases found at the base of the rug. The main border is designed with repeating abstract cloud motifs which shows its influence from Chinese culture and textile productions. This Khotan has an overall pastel color palette and has been woven on a cotton foundation with all wool pile and 100% natural vegetable dyes. This rug has overall wear which is consistent with its age and highly desirable within today’s decorative market.
