This is an antique Khotan rug woven in East Turkestan during the beginning of the 20th century circa 1900 – 1910 and measures 358 x 180 cm in size. This piece has a circular center medallion surrounded by an array of geometric floral shrub motifs set on a pale blue background color. The main border of this piece is decorated with alternating-colored flowers interconnected by diagonal branches with blossoming leaves set on a light gray background color. This Khotan has an overall pastel color palette making it a perfect addition to any modern or classical environment. It has been woven on a cotton foundation using all wool pile and 100% natural vegetable dyes and has been preserved in overall OK condition with areas of wear that are consistent with its age.
