DETAILS

This is an antique Peking rug woven in the eastern part of China during the beginning of the 20th century circa 1920-30’s. It has a simplistic field design with a center medallion and scattered floral motifs throughout the field set on an ivory background colour. The border is made up of larger scaled floral motifs interconnected with a spiraling Vine design set on an apricot background colour. Due to the main field being comprised mostly of an open field design it draws the viewers’ attention towards the center of the rug where the medallion is located.

It has been woven on a cotton foundation and uses 100% wool pile and all-natural vegetable dyes.
