This is one of antique Kazak rugs woven in the western part of the Caucasus mountains at the end of the 19th century 1890. It has a prayer rug design with an abstract centered cross set right below the Mihrab. In the head of the Mihrab is a tree of life motif with a barber pole designed center axis with accompanying branches comprising blossoming flowers. The field is decorated with tribal motifs such as hooked medallions, diamonds and circular stars set on a bright red background colour. The main border is comprised of T-shaped motifs interconnected with each other set on a bright yellow background.
This rug has been woven on a wool foundation with all wool pile and comes in:

Condition: Overall Good with some areas of wear.
