This is an Kazak antique rug woven in the western part of the Caucasus mountains circa 1900. It has an all over field design with two complete hooked medallions flanked by half size medallions set on a blue open field. The main border has alternating circular motifs with a centered star design set on a brick-red background colour. The scale of the border versus the field is relatively 1:1 which creates a harmonious balance in the design. The ivory coloured medallions create dramatic colour contrast against the overall darker colour palette of this carpet.
This rug has been woven on a wool foundation with all wool pile and comes in:

Condition: Overall very Good retaining most of its full original pile.
