This is an antique Gharabagh runner woven in the southern part of the Caucus mountains during the end of the 19th century circa 1890. It has an all over field design with shrub motifs enclosed in a lattice pattern set on a dark blue background colour. The main border is comprised of alternating hooks medallions and snowflake motifs set on a red background. The yellow innermost border creates a contrast against the darker blue field and draws the viewer’s eyes towards the border.
