This is a semi-antique Kashan rug from central Persia woven circa 1950-60’s. The field design is rows of alternate facing paisley motifs. The main and minor borders are also made of paisley motifs. The paisley motif dates back to the time when Zoroastrianism was the main religion in Persia and represented life and fertility. This mat sized rug is woven on a cotton foundation with 100% wool pile and has 100% natural vegetable dyes.
