This silk Jolfa rug from central Persia dates circa 1925. Jolfa rugs are extremely rare and unique. The design consists of repeating palmettes flanked by birds. The border makes use of a crab-like motif. Jolfa is famous for its Armenian community and Armensian letters can be seen next to the crab motifs on this rug. This rug is finely woven on a silk foundation with silk pile.

Condition: Good with mostly full pile with some areas of wear consistent with age.
