This is a Persian runner rug from eastern Persian town of Yazd woven circa 1910-1920. This gallery sized rug has a Herati design on a navy blue field colour and a geometric violet red border. Finding gallery-sized rugs is difficult and having pure allover design makes this rug even more special. The colour palette of this rug being dark blues and reds is iconic and typical of the colours used in rugs from Yazd. This rug is finely hand-knotted on a cotton foundation with wool pile using asymmetric knots.
