This antique Heriz is from northwest Persia woven circa 1920 and part of the Heritage Antique Collection of handknotted Heriz rugs by Sahrai. It has the classical Heriz design with a large central medallion with a floral geometric background. The ivory corner medallion and the rust background colour create great colour contrast. The teal colour found in the center of the medallion and throughout, is a highly desired and seldom found in any rug. This Heriz has a cotton foundation and woven with wool pile using symmetrical knots.
