This is a Silk Heriz form northwest Persia woven circa 1880. The condition of this rug displays how these type of rugs were highly valued through the decades. This piece demonstrates the strength of the open field design with a dominating central medallion. The colour palette is broad from pastel colours for the border and a coral shade for the main background colour to the dramatic navy blue of the central medallion. This rug is woven with the finest silk for its foundation and pile using symmetrical knotting.
