This is an antique Heriz rug woven in northwest Persia circa 1930’s. The design of this rug is a highly geometric design and uses a unique technique of incorporating large and small motifs to create contrast.  The field colour of this rug is a soft rust shade with a navy blue border and central motif.  What stands out in this piece is the use of eye-catching green and navy blue shades for the central motif.  This rug was woven on a cotton foundation with wool pile, and it has symmetrical knotting.
