This Antique Esfahan Rug from central Persia that dates to circa 1900 and displays a special garden of paradise design which is a representation of heaven within the Persian culture. This rug displays a tree of life with grapes and blossoming exotic flowers. The design of this piece displays what the wealthiest people of Persia would strive for in their own garden: exotic fruits, flowers, and animals. This rug is woven on a silk foundation and wool and silk pile using an asymmetric knot.
