This is an antique Agra carpet woven in India during the last quarter of the 19th century circa 1880 and measures 600 x 410 cm in size. This piece has an all-over highly stylized floral design featuring both small and large-scaled flowers interconnected with the vine design and incorporates classical cloud-band motifs set on a highly saturated red background color. The border is decorated with alternating geometric cartouches enclosing floral designs set on a green background color which creates color contrast against the rich colored field. This piece has an all-over intricate design that is unique and creates a dramatic visual impact. It has been woven on a cotton foundation using all wool pile with 100% natural vegetable dyes and has been preserved in overall great condition retaining most of its original full pile.
