This is an antique Agra carpet woven in India during the end of the 19th century circa 1890 and measures 630 x 380 cm in size. This piece has a highly stylized field design with a center medallion surrounded by an array of both large and small-scale floral motifs that takes inspiration from 18th-century Aubusson French tapestries. The border features repeating palmettes flanked by highly stylized curled floral motifs and closing branches with blossoming flowers set on a red background color which creates color contrast against the beige colored fields. This piece has a highly unique elegant design that can be incorporated into any modern or classical setting. It has been woven on a cotton foundation using all wool pile and 100% natural vegetable dyes and has been preserved in overall great condition retaining all its original full pile.
