DETAILS
This is an antique Agra rug woven in India during the end of the 19th century circa 1900 and measures 523 x 351 cm in size. This piece has an all-over highly stylized large-scaled Herati design set on a red background color. The border has a linear geometric design featuring palmettes flanked by sickle leaves surrounded by diagonal branches with blossoming flowers set on light pistachio green background color that creates color contrast against the rich field color. The overall large-scaled motifs within the field create a dramatic visual impact on the viewer and give a royal feel to this carpet. It has been woven on a cotton foundation using all wool pile with 100% natural vegetable dyes and has been preserved in overall great condition retaining most of its original full pile.
