This is an antique Aubusson tapestry woven in France during the last quarter of the 19th century circa 1870-1880 and measures 562 x 445 cm in size. The field is decorated with an elegant large-scaled medallion enclosing a floral bouquet Woven with pastel colors and sat on an open field beige background. The border is designed with linear cartouches enclosing floral designs representing the interior home decor of the French elite during this time. The design of this piece was made to mimic and compliment the homes of 19th century France and has been executed to the highest degree. This tapestry has been woven on an all-wool foundation and 100% natural vegetable-dyed thread. It has been preserved in overall great condition adding to its elegance and usability.
