DETAILS

This is an antique Khotan rug woven in east Turkestan during the first quarter of the 20th century circa 1920 – 1930 and measures 370 x 294 cm in size. The field is designed with two medallions that are decorated with repeating geometric shrub motifs and the rest of the field follows suit with the inner medallion design using the same repeating shrubs. A unique feature of this piece is the number of borders it has and their small size all of which are decorated with small-scale geometric motifs that creates a unison design aspect with the small repeating field design. This piece has been woven on a cotton foundation with all wool pile that uses 100% vegetable dyes and has been preserved in overall good condition with a few areas of low pile which are consistent with its age.

Please note that this is a unique piece. If you are looking for a similar Rug in a different size, please consult the listing below.
