This is an antique Ushak rug woven in Istanbul Turkey during the end of the 19th century circa 1890 and measures 320 x 304 cm in size. This piece has an all-over floral design that is symmetrical and features vases with blossoming flowers set on a beige background color. The border is made up of palmettes surrounded by a group of different floral motifs set on a light pink background color. The overall design and pastel colors used in this piece make it extremely decorative and highly desirable by interior designers and decorators alike because of its usability within both modern and classical environments. A unique feature of this piece is its square format which is extremely rare and highly desired. It has been woven on a cotton foundation with all wool pile and 100% natural vegetable dyes. This Ushak has been preserved in overall great condition with a few areas of low pile which are consistent with its age.
