DETAILS
This is an antique Ushak rug woven in Istanbul Turkey during the end of the 19th century circa 1890 and measures 355 x 255 cm in size. This piece features a geometric center medallion placed on a pistachio green open field accompanied by corner medallions connected to each other and decorated with an array of floral motifs set on a beige background. The border features alternating colored geometric cross-shaped motifs interconnected by a vine design with blossoming flowers set on a light pink background color. The outermost border with a light peach color creates a frame around the piece due to its lack of design and slightly deeper color than the rest of the piece. This Ushak has been woven on a cotton foundation made with all wool pile and 100% natural vegetable dyes and it has been preserved in overall good condition with some areas of wear that are consistent with its age.
