This is an antique Tehran rug from Northern Persia dating back to end of 19th century. This rug is in great condition and silk is used for many of its details. Tehran rugs design and colour palette are unique and easily distinguishable from rugs woven in other areas. . The border features birds and deers with large scale palmettes connected with arabesque motifs.
This rug is finely hand-knotted on a cotton foundation with a wool and silk pile.
