This is a  Meyme antique rug woven in Central Persia in the second quarter of the 20th century circa 1930 – 1940. This piece has an all-over design with an array of polychrome floral shrub motifs set on a red-coloured background. The border is decorated with alternating coloured palmettes flanked by cypress trees and squares enclosing a single diagonal tree branch with blossoming flowers set on a beige background creating colour contrast against the red-coloured field. This piece has been woven on a cotton foundation and is made with all will pile with 100% vegetable dyes and has been preserved in overall great condition retaining most of its full pile. This is a highly decorative carpet with an intricate drawing that has been woven with extreme precision.
