This is an antique Malayer rug woven in West Persia during the end of the 19th century circa 1890 – 1900 . The field of this Rug is decorated with repeating vase motifs with blossoming flowers and pairs of birds located at the base of each vase set on a dark blue background colour. The borders are made up of geometric repeating flowers flanked by abstract geometric leaves. The two yellow background borders create a high level of colour contrast against the darker coloured field and draw the viewer’s eyes towards them.
This rug is woven on a cotton foundation and wool pile and comes in:
