This is an antique silk Mohtasham Kashan rug woven in central Persia at the end of the 19th century circa 1890. This piece has an all-over field design with an array of blossoming flowers and palmettes woven using pastel colours making it a perfect piece in any modern or traditional setting. The border is decorated with palmettes interconnected with the split arabesque design and accompanied by an array of blossoming flowers in the same colours as the field. Mohtasham is the most famous weaver from Kashan famous for producing rugs at the end of the 19th century and his pieces can be found in top collections and museums. 

This rug is finely hand-knotted on a silk foundation with a silk pile.
