This antique Heriz rug form northwest Persia was woven circa 1860. This rug has an allover field design with two small medallions in the center. The field is decorated with classic Heriz palmettes and floral patterns. The border has a strong visual impact with its precisely drawn palmettes and surrounding sickle leaf motifs. There is a cartouche on the border at the top of the rug filled with the name of the weaver. This piece was woven with the finest silk foundation and silk pile using symmetrical knotting.
