DETAILS

This is a Dorokhsh rug originating from the Persian eastern province of Khorassan and is one of the antique wool rugs in the Collection woven circa 1880-1900 with an iconic feature of an allover vase design with an extra large border.  The red vases are arranged in nine horizontal rows surrounded by flowers on a navy blue field colour. The ivory border with alternating paisleys creates contrast with the overall dark colour palette. This rug is woven on a cotton foundation with wool pile using an asymmetric knot.
