DETAILS

This is a semi-antique Peking rug woven woven in the eastern part of China in the second quarter of the 20th century circa 1940s. It has a simplistic field design with the center vase motif with blossoming flowers surrounded by floral branch motifs spread out through the field. The main border is comprised of many different motifs and elements that have both cultural and spiritual meaning in the Chinese culture. The dark blue border creates colour contrast against the ivory field and evenly balances the rug resulting the viewer to see the full design and not be drawn towards a single element within the rug.

This rug has been woven on a cotton foundation using all wool pile and comes in:

  • 144 x 94 cm

Condition: Overall very Goood condition retaining most of its full pile
