DETAILS

This is an antique Peking rug woven in the eastern part of China during the first quarter of the 20th century circa 1920s. Its field is comprised of a larger scaled center medallion surrounded by tree motifs and a center vase motif on both ends of the rug. The border consists of larger scale floral motifs interconnected with a spiraling vine design set on a light blue background. The larger scale floral motifs in the border are made using light and dark ivory colours which create a contrast against the blue barrel background and draws the viewer’s attention towards the flower motifs.
