This is a Peking rug woven in the eastern part of China during the 2nd quarter of the 20th century circa 1930-40’s. It has an open field design with an ivory background and has no motifs located within its field. The dark blue border is comprised of four vase motifs with blossoming flowers that protrude all the way into the main field of the carpet. Located in the four corners of the border are cloud band motifs and each of them have a unique Chinese symbol that has a special meaning within Chinese culture.

This Rug is woven on a cotton foundation with all wool pile and uses 100% natural vegetable dyes and comes in:
