This is a Peking antique rug woven in the eastern part of China during the beginning of the 20th century circa 1920-30’s. Its field is comprised of a larger scale center medallion alongside scattered floral motifs and elegantly drawn corner medallions set on an apricot field colour. The border is comprised of Lotus flower motifs interconnected by a spiraling Vine design set on a light blue background colour. The innermost black border has a simplistic design with circle motifs evenly spaced between each other using the same apricot colour.
This Rug is woven on a cotton foundation and uses 100% wool pile and all-natural vegetable dyes.
