This is a large Ningxia rug from Northern China dating circa 1880 with a unique colour palette and various Chinese motifs. The central medallion consists of floral motifs whereas the field is composed of many vase patterns surrounded by a border with repeating floral shapes. This rug is finely hand-knotted on a cotton foundation with a wool pile.
