DETAILS

This is an antique Ushak rug woven in Istanbul Turkey during the end of the 19th century circa 1890 and measures 350 x 257 cm in size. This piece features a pink pastel-colored geometric center medallion surrounded by a vine design with an array of blossoming flowers set on a pale pistachio green background color. Ushak rugs are highly coveted by decorators for their extremely decorative design and use of soft pastel colors making them the perfect piece that would fit in both a modern and classical setting. The border is made using an array of geometric flowers interconnected by branches with different blossoming flowers set on the same pink background color as the center medallion. It has been woven on a cotton foundation and made using all wool pile with 100% natural vegetable dyes and has been preserved in overall great condition with a few areas of low pile which are consistent with its age.
