This is a Sarough antique rug from Central Persia woven circa 1920-1930. This piece features a small central medallion surrounded by an array of shrubs with different blossoming flowers. A unique feature of this piece are the vases located along the edge of the field together with the entire field design that is symmetrical. The border is decorated with palmettes surrounded by repeating trios of shrub motifs set on a blue background creating colour contrast against the light-coloured field.
This rug is finely hand-knotted in the finest wool on cotton and is available in:
